Heroes Above Us, or HAU, was created to honor service members killed in action or in combat-related actions and their families through acknowledgment at public events, where the Heroes' loved ones have the opportunity to see firsthand the appreciation of their immediate communities for their families' sacrifices.  Funds raised through these events and other means will be contributed directly to the families of military personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice for their their communities, and their country.  Funds raised and administered by Heroes Above Us will be used to provide assistance to first-generation relatives of service members killed in action or combat-related actions.  These funds are available for scholarships, to cover gaps in VA benefits, or on an as needed basis and as approved by the board of directors.
